Forensics/Speech and Debate

Forensics is an impactful and competitive extracurricular activity that fosters significant personal and academic growth in its participants. Personally, students develop courage speaking in front of others, unleash creativity, learn teamwork, and cultivate grace in both success and disappointment. Academically, forensics enhances literacy, strengthens research, grammar, and writing skills, and improves fluency through activities like public forum and extemporaneous speaking. Furthermore, it promotes higher-order thinking through literary interpretation and performance refinement, cultivates an appreciation for literature, and expands vocabulary as students deeply engage with texts and quoted authorities. Competitions are held locally, state-wide, and across the country, giving students the ability to meet and learn from students around the world.
